Hebden Bridge Beer: The Pub – Hebden Bridge MicroPub
The Pub at Hebden Bridge is still fondly known as “Calans” by many locals. Owned since September 2020 by Mel and Glenn the name changed to The Pub. Tucked away in the centre of Hebden Bridge, The Pub is a splendid place for locals and tourists alike – dog friendly with no TV or music. The Pub Hebden Bridge has a large partially covered and heated courtyard which is a suntrap. There is a car park opposite should you need it.
The Pub Hebden Bridge serves 6 changing hand-pulled cask ales, 3 changing keg craft beers, Freedom Four craft lager and 5 ciders.

Hebden Bridge Beer: White Swan
Run by Liz Wood, Hebden Bridge’s longest-serving landlady, The White Swan has stocked Black Sheep since it was first released and there is a ‘Black Sheep Corner’ in the pub. The White Swan is dog-friendly and holds regular music events.
The White Swan has four changing hand-pulled cask ales, 3 changing cask beers including Beavertown Kneck Oil on tap and there’s a good beer garden at the back.

Hebden Bridge Beer: Shoulder of Mutton
Located in the centre of Hebden Bridge, The Shoulder of Mutton has two open fires and has been fully refurbished. The Shoulder of Mutton has beautiful surroundings with views of the River Calder and is wheelchair-accessible and dog friendly.
The Shoulder of Mutton has four rotating beers from a choice of Vocation, Timothy Taylor’s, Goose Eye, Moorhouse’s, Saltaire, Ossett, Copper dragon, Elland Brewery and Theakstons.
The Shoulder of Mutton has homemade food including breakfasts and Sunday lunches with great Yorkshire puddings for which The Shoulder of Mutton is renowned.

Hebden Bridge Beer: Vocation & Co.
It is called Vocation & Co. because it’s all about them working with other companies – sourcing the best local suppliers’ products and beers from breweries they respect as well as their own.
Vocation & Co. in Hebden Bridge has four hand pulls and a maximum of 20 craft keg and cider taps.
The Vocation Brewery is set high up above Hebden Bridge on New Road and is described towards the bottom of this page. Vocation & Co. was the first bar the Vocation Brewery opened logically and conveniently in their hometown of Hebden Bridge. Others are in Manchester and Halifax.

Hebden Bridge Beer: Drink?
Drink? in Hebden Bridge is a specialist bottle shop with a small bar and an upstairs lounge area.
Drink? has two hand pumps for cask ales from northern independent breweries and a third pump exclusively for dark beers. There are also five keg craft beers served. Real cider is also available and a wide range of bottled beers, some of which are bottle conditioned.
You can ask to bring your own food in, but they have Pies, Peas and Pint evenings on Tuesdays. A quiz is held every other Sunday. Drink? has minimalist décor with artwork on display by local artists.

Hebden Bridge Beer: Fox and Goose
The Fox and Goose was the first pub in west Yorkshire to be run by the community. It has a wonderfully cosy feel, with exposed beams and flagged floors. Cyclist, walkers and dog friendly, The Fox and Goose pub has a real fire and a great hillside partially covered beer garden with fantastic views. It was CAMRA pub of the year 2020 and they have regular music sessions and Monday night is quiz night.

Hebden Bridge Beer: Old Gate Bar and Restaurant
The Old Gate is a spacious vibrant modern place with two levels that are both wheelchair accessible.
Downstairs at the Old Gate has an impressive copper bar primarily but not exclusively for drinkers and upstairs has a more restaurant feel and there is an outdoor seating area.
Old Gate typically has 7 cask ales on hand-pull from Vocation, Saltaire, Anarchy, Roosters and Moorehouse’s plus 3 keg craft beers from Vocation and Kirkstall Brewery. The Old Gate also has an extensive wine and cocktail menu.

Hebden Bridge Beer: Stubbing Wharf
A little out of Hebden Bridge town centre and accessible by the canal towpath or road, The Stubbing Wharf is a traditional family-friendly pub located between the river Calder and Rochdale Canal. Stubbing Wharf’s food has a good reputation in the area and they use local suppliers for all their products. The Stubbing Wharf has a large dining area, outdoor seating and canal trip cruisers stop outside the Stubbing Wharf pub.

The Trades Club Hebden Bridge is open to all with a discount on beer and gigs available to members. The Trades Club Hebden Bridge keeps three real ales on draught; Stod Fold Gold 3.8% is the regular and the other two pumps rotate. There is one bar and a function room where they hold music events and also show football on their large screen.
There is affordable food to eat in or to take away, every day from 4 pm to 8 pm. Table booking is not required.

The Nightjar in Hebden Bridge is the Brewery Tap for Nightjar Brew Co. located in the heart of Hebden Bridge, beneath the Hebden Bridge Picture House. The Nightjar Hebden Bridge is a small single-room micro pub with a service bar in the middle of the back wall with three hand pumps plus five keg taps on the wall.

Located 1.2 miles from Hebden Bridge town centre, The Hare and Hounds is a stunningly located refurbished dog-friendly B&B country pub with Cask Marque quality Timothy Taylor real ales.

Vocation Brewery, Craggies Farm Shop and Café
While in the area, out of interest you may pass the Vocation Brewery, founded by John Hicking in 2015, set in the beautiful Calderdale countryside.
Vocation supplies pubs in draught form and cans, and supermarkets in cans and they have an online shop with delivery only. Vocation beers are available in most UK retailers in 33cl and 44cl cans -Vocation’s flagship Life & Death beer is now one of the best-selling beers in the supermarket craft aisle. Vocation now has over 60 staff and sells the equivalent of over 10 million cans per year.
Next to Vocation Brewery is Craggies Farm Shop and Café. Perhaps stop for a bite to eat in the café and it is worth dropping in to the farm shop to stock up on their splendid local fare and beer cans from their neighbouring breweries Vocation and Little Valley, which they stock.
