The Angel at Hetton holds the reputation of being the destination restaurant and bar in one of England’s most exquisite areas – the magnificent Yorkshire Dales. The Angel Hetton Logo and Building. Michael Wignall Michelin Star

Top British chef and Angel at Hetton owner, Michael Wignall arrived in the Yorkshire Dales with his wife Johanna in 2018 via Pennyhill, Bagshot – 25 miles southwest of central London where he was awarded 2 Michelin Stars, and the Michelin Starred Gidleigh Park, Devon – in England’s southwestern peninsular.

After a renovation on his arrival, Michael Wignall has reimagined the restaurant’s offering and created a fabulous menu for the 60-cover restaurant, with a style that’s casual and contemporary, bringing great food and great hospitality – he aims to give his customers a relaxed experience.

With dishes such as aged fillet of Yorkshire beef, sublime turbot and his selection of Sunday lunch roasts, he was awarded a Michelin star just a year after re-launching The Angel at Hetton.

With this further achievement in Yorkshire, adding to a glittering career, Michael Wignall has cemented his well-deserved place as one of the most respected and awarded chefs of his era.

The Angel at Hetton has twenty en-suite bedrooms – two are accessible rooms with wet room showers, widened doorways and grab rails.

The Angel at Hetton’s Fell View Barn – historically the barn was part of Fell View Farm dates from the late 17th century – has three suites and two luxury studio rooms. Fell View Barn has magnificent views over Rylstone Fell and beyond.

Next door is their Sycamore Bank accommodation. This cottage conversion contains two studios and 2 suites

The Angel has two accessible rooms with wet room showers, widened doorways and grab rails.

Across the road in Fell View Barn, there is a studio with stunning views over Rylstone Fell.

The nearby quiet hamlet of Rylstone is where 12 ladies from Yorkshire’s Rylstone and District Women’s Institute decided to disrobe to produce tasteful and gently amusing photographs to raise cash for a leukaemia research charity – leading to the Calendar Girls film starring Helen Mirren and Julie Walters – the movie grossed $93million worldwide! There is a circular walk, taking in the local villages of Hetton, Rylstone of Calendar fame and Cracoe.

The Angel still has a public bar – with real ale served hand by pump – so you can relax there after a walk in the Yorkshire Dales.

Are dogs allowed at the Angel at Hetton? Yes, they are welcome, except in dining areas. Two of the bedrooms and the bar area of the main house are doggy-friendly – with dog beds and bowls provided.

There’s plenty of opportunity for walks in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, so your family dog can experience The Angel at Hetton with you too.
